The trailer features Prey star Amber Midthunder as Pocahontas and Elvis star Austin Butler as John Smith. It even includes a new rendition of the iconic song &#8220;Colors of the Wind&#8221; and suggests a 2025 release date.</p>
<p>However, this trailer has been confirmed as fake, using footage from other movies like Prey and employing deepfake technology to create a convincing illusion.</p>

<p>In 2019, Inside the Magic reported a rumor that Disney was planning a live-action Pocahontas remake, inspired by the success of films like Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. Despite this, no official announcements or developments have followed.</p>
<p>Longtime Disney composer Alan Menken, speaking at a promotional event (via Digital Spy), addressed the challenges of remaking Pocahontas. He expressed doubt about the feasibility of such a project given modern sensibilities and the potential for controversy:</p>

He described the original film as a &#8220;clunky attempt at watered-down corporate inclusivity&#8221; that overlooks the harsher aspects of Native history in favor of a feel-good narrative.</p>
<p>Given these complications and the sensitive nature of the Pocahontas story, a live-action remake seems unlikely at this time.</p>
